Blended & Etched

Try this quick and easy technique to give your card a bit of a wow factor. This is usually done in black and white, but I decided to give mine an extra boost of pizzazz with a bit of color. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Blended Seasons

Paper:
   Tempting Turquoise A-2
   Basic Black 5-3/8 x 4-1/8
   Basic White 5-1/4 x 4 (2)

Ink:
   Tuxedo Black Memento

Markers:
   Blushing Bride
   Daffodil Delight
   Old Olive

Micron 01 Pens/Ultra-Fine Markers:
   Red
   Green

Technique:
   Stamp Etching

Accessories:
   Pop-Up Stickers
   Adhesive

I followed the tutorial found at SCS for Stamp Etching. Check out the tutorial with full instructions, pictures, and a short video.

First, I stamped the image and sentiment, using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a Basic White panel.

I then used the Red Micron 01 pen and etched the flowers.

Next, I etched the leaves, using a Micron 01 Green pen.

I then colored in a couple of small areas with the Blushing Bride, Daffodil Delight, and Old Olive markers.

Next, I adhered the panel onto a Basic Black matte and then added it to a Tempting Turquoise card front.

Lastly, I placed three pop-up stickers on the front and adhered a Basic White panel to the inside of the card.

Hippest Waterfall

Watch a person's face light up as they pull on the twine to reveal how these happy hippos dance in celebration. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Hippest Hippos

Paper:
   Sahara Sand 5-1/4 x 8 score @ 4", 1-7/8" Sq. (4)
   Berry Burst 5-1/2 x 4-1/4, 3/4 x 4
   Purple 9 x 2 scored @ 2", 2-3/4", 3-1/2", 4-1/4"
   Daffodil Delight 2" Sq.
   Only Orange 2" Sq.
   Bermuda Bay 2" Sq.
   Melon Mambo 2" Sq.

Ink:
   Tuxedo Black Memento

Markers:
   Personal Choice

Technique:
   Waterfall

Accessories:
   Eyelets (3)
   Baker's Twine
   Adhesive

I followed the steps at SCS Tutorials for the Waterfall Card. They do an excellent explanation with pictures for you to follow along.

First, I randomly stamped all the hippos on the Sahara Sand card front, using Tuxedo Black Memento.

I then stamped a different hippo on each of the 1-7/8" Sahara Sand squares and colored them, using various markers.

Next, I adhered the Sahara Sand squares to a colored 2" square and laid them out on my table in the order I wanted them to appear on the card.

I scored the long purple piece and adhered the squares onto it, keeping them in order. Note that only the top of the square is attached to the strip.

Next, I placed this strip on the card front to see where I should attach the Berry Burst strip. I did not adhere the hippos yet. You want to make sure the strip is somewhat in the center of the card. I removed the strip and attached the Berry Burst strip to the card front only, using two eyelets.

I then adhered the strip permanently onto the Berry Burst strip as shown in the instructions from the link above.

Lastly, I added an eyelet at the bottom of the strip and threaded some twine for pulling the waterfall card down. I left the inside blank for a handwritten message to be added when it is given.

Here are the pictures of the rest of the squares:

   Flat Adhesive-Backed Pearls
   Glue Dots
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

First, I stamped, die cut, and colored the birds on the Basic White square. I stamped them using Tuxedo Black Memento and then die cut them. I used Cherry Cobbler on the berries, Pale Papaya for the birds, Crumb Cake on the tree limb, and Daffodil Delight for the bird accents and beaks.

I then adhered the birds to the Crumb Cake piece, using dimensionals.

Next, I stamped the sentiment, using Mossy Meadow, and attached it to the top of the Crumb Cake piece, using glue dots.

I then added this panel to the center of the Blackberry Bliss card front, using dimensionals.

Bluebirds

Create a background, using the negative from the Winterly Tree Tops Dies. So, when you use the Winterly Tree Tops Die Cut to create a background, be sure to hold on to the negative piece to create this beautiful background. Thoughts?

Stamps:
   Winterly Tree Tops
   Something Fancy

Paper:
   Mossy Meadow A-2
   Basic White 3-5/8 x 5-1/8, 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)
Negative of Winterly Tree Tops Die
   Smoky Slate 3-1/2" Sq.

Ink:
   Tuxedo Black Memento
   Mossy Meadow

Watercolor Pencils:
   Crushed Curry
   Coastal Cabana
   Cajun Craze

Technique:
   Blending Brush
   Die Cutting
   Punching

Accessories:
   Winterly Tree Tops Dies
   Blending Brush
   Artisan Label Punch
   Glue Dots
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

First, I placed a glue dot in the center of the negative piece and aligned it onto the Basic White panel.

I then heavily blended Mossy Meadow ink all around it, using a Blending Brush. Keep the negative still and in place.

Next, carefully turn the negative piece 180 degrees and continue to blend Mossy Meadow on all four sides. Do NOT add any more ink to your brush. This will give you the two tones of Mossy Meadow. I did have to lift the negative up from the panel and reposition it so that it aligned perfectly.

I then stamped the birds on the Smoky Slate square and die cut them.

Next, I colored the birds, using the watercolor pencils. I used the Cajun Craze on the beak of the birds, the Coastal Cabana was used on the wings and accents on the birds, and the Crushed Curry was used to color the berries.

I then adhered the Basic White panel onto the Mossy Meadow card front, and attached the birds to the center of the panel, using glue dots.

Next, I stamped and punched the sentiment, using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and the Artisan Label Punch.

Lastly, I attached the sentiment, using dimensionals and adhered a Basic White panel to the inside of the card.

Rain Tree

Create an interesting watercolor background, using this technique. Just allow a few water droplets to fall on your watercolored panel and let it work on its own. Thoughts?

Stamps:
   Rooted in Nature

Paper:
   Almost Amethyst A-2
   Basic Black 5-3/8 x 4-1/8
   Watercolor 5-1/4 x 4
   Basic White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink:
   Soft Sky
   Almost Amethyst
   River Rock
   Tuxedo Black Memento

Technique:
   Watercolor

Accessories:
   Water Painters/Aqua Painters
   MISTI/Stamparatus/Stamp-a-ma-jig
   Adhesive

First, I watercolored the background, using Soft Sky on top, Almost Amethyst in the center, and River Rock on the bottom.

I then randomly let water droplets fall on the panel. A few ran down the panel, creating an elongated splotch. Oops.

Next, I let the panel dry completely.

I then used my Stamparatus to stamp my image and sentiment on the panel. It is not necessary, but I wanted to make sure I would get a nice dark image.

Next, I adhered the panel onto a Basic Black matte and then added it to an Almost Amethyst card front.

Lastly, I adhered a Basic White panel to the inside of the card.

Tempting You

Use alcohol inks to create a unique background. You can easily use a straw or compressed air to spread the inks across your glossy paper. As you can see, I used a straw, which left the Wild Plum rather dark. Thoughts?

Stamps:
   I Like You

Paper:
   Tempting Turquoise A-2
   Basic Black 5-3/8 x 4-1/8
   Glossy White 5-1/4 x 4
   Basic White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink:
   Tuxedo Black Memento

Alcohol Inks:
   Stream
   Butterscotch
   Wild Plum

Technique:
   Blow Art

Accessories:
   Straw
   Adhesive

First, I added a drop of alcohol ink to the Glossy White panel.

I then used a straw to blow the ink across the panel.

Next, I repeated these two steps, adding a drop at a time, varying the colors on the panel, until it was covered.

I then set it aside to dry for a minute. It does not take long at all.

Next, I stamped a sentiment on the bottom left of the panel.

I then stamped the florals on the rest of the card.

Next, I adhered it to a Basic Black matte, and then onto the Tempting Turquoise card front.

Lastly, I added a Basic White panel to the inside of the card.
