Did you know that you can completely change the look and feel of a card simply by changing the medium that you choose for adding color? You can even get wild and choose various mediums on the same card. For example, you might want to use watercolors and a few markers to add color to a large image. Using a sponge to add color will yield a different look than a watercolor wash. There is no right or wrong in creating. The main thing is to have fun and relax. What do you think?

First, I used a sponge brayer to add color to the background. I used Balmy Blue at the top, followed by Pineapple Punch in the middle, and Call Me Clover at the bottom.
I then stamped my image, a few birds, and the sentiment using Archival Basic Black.
I then proceeded to color my cabin using various markers.
I used a white chalk marker on the windows, and I grabbed the white and gray markers for the stones on the walkway.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Sharon. I appreciate you taking the time to stop and take a peek. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with me.
DeleteI agree the whole idea of a card is to have fun and relax. Wonderful image and terrific coloring.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the great complement. It means so much since it is coming from a true artist. I think I got lucky with the brayer. Still, using many of the tools out there pretty much guarantees us success. Even when I don't like it, I keep it, and eventually change my mind! Thanks for sharing!
