Friendly Birds

Window cards are not as complicated as they look. I really enjoyed making this very simple one that allowed me to use many things from my shelves. Of course, you just need the design of the window card and then use and stamp whatever you have on hand. Here is mine:

   Bermuda Bay 11 x 4 1/4, score at 5 1/2

   Crushed Curry 2 1/4 x 4

   Whisper White 5 1/4 x 4

   Birthday Bash DSP (Bow)

   Window Sheet 4 1/4 x 3

Ink:

   Tuxedo Black Memento

Markers/Blends:

   Night of Navy

   Blushing Bride

   Soft Sky

   Soft Suede

   Daffodil Delight

Technique:

   Window Card

   Dry Embossing

Accessories:

   Bow Builder Punch, Love and Happiness Decals, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Garden Embossing Folder, Glue Dots, Tacky Tape

My Steps:

Gather all of your materials. Then dry emboss the Crushed Curry piece using the Garden Embossing Folder. Set aside.

Bermuda Bay 11 x 4 1/4: Cut a 1" strip from the bottom (This will be attached back to the bottom of the window sheet.). Then cut 2" (This is the opening for the window sheet. The 2" piece can be kept to use on any other project.)

Next, attach the window sheet to the opening: You can use glue dots, tacky tape, or tear and tape. I attached the top part first, just above the cut. I then attached the bottom to the 1" Bermuda Bay strip, making sure the bottom lines up to the bottom of the card base as it closes. 

I then adhered the Whisper White to the inside of the card. I made a pencil mark to indicate the top and bottom of the window. The birds will be stamped in this section.

I then stamped and colored my birds. I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to line up my birds side by side. 

Next, I adhered the Crushed Curry piece to the top part of the card, and attached the bow made with my bow builder punch.

I pressed the decals on my window sheet and stamped the sentiments on the inside and outside of the card. Here is a picture of the inside of my card.

Coloring the images takes longer than any other part of the process. I tried to find a simple video tutorial, but didn't have any luck. I may have to make one.
